you could always buy the glass tank new, and build a wood canopy and stand yourself. would save quite a bit to.

I may do that myself when Im ready to upgrade to a 125g-150g tank.

ZOMG cryptocaryon has infected the boards! DIP DIP DIP!!!!! ;D

On a more serious note: Welcome!

Petco or PetSmart tanks aren't bad in their build quality, so I wouldn't worry about using them. My HT/QT is from Petco. Depending on the specific store, you may lose out on size/shape options by going to one of them, but their tanks have no build quality issues. There may be some extra silicone occasionally, but not structural issues.

Buying used is a good idea, one word of advice though make sure the tank you end up purchasing is free from scratches on the inside, although it may look clear when it is dry in time algae fills the scratches and you cant get it out. Nothing will make you wish you spent the extra money on a newer one than this ! God luck and welcome to the hobby.

Thanks for that great advice reefing, especially since the tank I am looking at is acrylic.
It is great, 115 gallons, 70 gallon sump. Pretty nice.
