There is a strong point here and I believe that you should try a few different whites to see what works for your corals and personal liking. When I bought my T5 8x54 from buildyouraquarium at ebay it came with generic 4 420nm blues and 4 10K whites. It blinded me! I couldn't stand it and that was when I asked around and came across the grim reefer and I bought all new bulbs. When I moved up to my 210g I added an 8x24 and matched up the same bulbs. I think it probably should be whiter but my corals like it and thats what counts most and I did want a bluer look.:)

I added some pics to illustrate.
Pic 1 is my old 120 when I turned on the generic bulbs.
Pic 2 shows the 8 new types of bulbs.
Pic 3 is early on with my new 210.
Pic 4 is 2 months ago.
Pic 5 shows the setup with the top doors open, here you can see where the 4 ' strip meets the 2' strip.

I am a big fan of the Giesemann actinic plus and actinic pure combo with an aquablue.

The actinic pure gives an additional purple and really makes the corals come alive.

I've heard good things about Giesemann bulbs. Question: Is the actinic plus a 450nm blue? How many kelvin's in the actinic pure and aquablue? I use the UVL 75/25 14K it has a purple look also the UVL aquasun 10K has a pink hue to it. Is the ATI Aquablue the same as Guiesemann or do you use the ATI?

Lets keep this idea rolling. I think there is a lot to be learned about T5's and I for one am open to suggestion. I do have one other however possibly stupid question? How if any would the corals react to new lighting?
