Thinking of changing my t5 luminaire to a metal halides 2x150watt.

i have quite a few corals as you can see in my signature, how and what would be the best way to introduce the new lights and how high off the tank should they be?

    Cheers

Most of those corals are softies and can believe it or not tolerate a good amount of light. The mushrooms on the otherhand CAN be overilluminated and should be watched at first.
I would mount the lights maybe 8-10" off the tank and shorten the light cycle for the first couple of days or even a week or so. Some people are more cautious than others so do what you feel comfortable doing. If you want to keep the lights further away and shorten the period and then slowly lower the lights and increase the photoperiod, that wouldn't be a bad idea. 6" away is typically the closest I have seen people mount the lights, though, for maximum coverage.

    Good luck and happy reefing!
