I really like my Current Xtream Pro 6 bulb. Coral growth after putting different bulbs in is just amazing.

I think you could keep several different types of sps with a 6 bulb fixture, just be aware of placement.

The problem with me and SPS in my tank is that I'm also stalked on the heavy side which may disrupt the delicate balance that SPS need. I think I may have nitrates slightly too high for SPS, although fine for softies/LPS

I have a 4 bulb icecap t5 lite on my 90 overdriven with a icecap 660 ballast. An icecap overdrives the bulbs about 25% so thats like havin 5 bulbs normally driven. I have sps about 12-14 inches from the bulbs and have no problem with keeping sps. I have a bright rose bubble tip anenome, a huge singulara leather, zoos, green star polyps, most of my mushrooms on the bottom of the tank do best in shady areas. I have a meteor shower coral (hard coral) that is on the bottom and has spread like crazy. There are gonna be alot more factors involved than how powerful your lites are with sps or any coral for that matter. Get what u can afford, if its 4 bulbs than get 4, its still a hell of an upgrade from PCs. My first fixture was on a 29 gallon tank, a 130 watt 50/50 pc fixture and at the upper portion of that tank i managed to grow a piece of sps. Good luck with your choice

I think I'm going to try to get a 6 bulb, but a 4 bulb with overdriving ballasts sounds interesting. I think a 6 bulb Nova may be the way to go. Its not a Tek but its still a quality fixture. At least I'm not going Odyssea.

I went ahead and ordered a Nova extreme pro 6x54 watt fixture new with bulbs for $345. I don't have a calcium reactor, and I have a weird stocking situation that I have a large amount of fish, but none of them do anything. I mean they are all fish such as small gobies, firefish, a gramma, clownfish, etc. that just sit in a hole and don't really put off much bio-load. Do you guys think that I might be able to keep basic SPS such as birds nest or montipora up top? Are there any clams that are small enough for a 90 and would work under that light?

You can pretty much scratch my questions about SPS/Clams. I don't have RO/DI which would likely not go over well with these guys.

I'm sure you would be able to keep some easy sps,at the top.I have quite a few fish as well.3 tangs, and one is over 6 inches long. You need stable water condition,a good skimmer, and if you would have bought a tek, there would be no wondering IF you can... :p
