Yeah I see a 20" then it seems to jump to a 36" more than likely he probably meant do a 20" that would leave 5" on each side of the light which should be fine.

My 125g is 72" and I am going with a 60" and Dr. Frag said I shouldnt notice too much on the extra 6" per side so the 20" in your situation is probably your best bet.

I'm in the same boat at CoralCrazy with a 6 foot tank and a 5 foot light. i actually like it like this though I could use more bulbs. 6 x 54 on a 5 foot fixture is a bit underpowered for a 125,

Have you tried going with 80w bulbs? I will be ordering the sunpower by ATI and that will have 6 x 80w. I havent ordered it yet but will soon and when I get it I will be posting pics on my build page so you will be able to see how it looks with 80w once I get it going.

Are you talking about overdriving the bulbs to 80 watts? I think I'd have to swap out the 3 ballasts if I did that.

I dont think they are overdriven since they have the 54w setup and an 80w setup. At least I dont see anything that says they are overdriven.

    54w: http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5..._6x54W_SunPower_T5_High-Output_Fixture_by_ATI

    80w: http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5...nPower_T5_High-Output_Fixture_w!_Bulbs_by_ATI

Of course the 54w is a smaller setup it looks like but all of the 60" have anywhere from 4 to 6 bulbs all at 80w.

My lighting isnt a pro light hood. Its 6 54 watt 48 inch bulbs as I had a couple of 4 foot fixtures that were casting too much shadow on the ends of the tank. All I ended up doing was staggering the bulbs when I made the 5 foot hood.

My fault guys.. I was thinking about a light that no longer exists..

There is this one though but IME not really enough power to it..

You will be using 24" lamps over a 30" tank so whether you buy a 24" fixture or 30" its the same...

    Ever consider hanging the unit?

60" lamps are standard 80watters.. If overdriven they run at about 100watts

Just wanted to thank you Dr. Frag, I finally saved enough money and just placed my order for my ATI Sunpower 60" 6x80W SunPower T5 High-Output Fixture w/ Bulbs.

For the bulbs I ordered: 3 Blue+, 2 Aqua blues and a Pro Color per your recommendation.

I like the way your tank looked so I figured I couldnt go wrong with what you recommended. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for answering my questions, Now I just have to WOW the wife so she doesnt kill me for the costs. ;D

    No problem!!
I think the spectrum should help all the colors pop without one being drowned out by the others...

You will be happy with it I am sure!

Also I believe the rule is if there is no pics it never happened! ;D
