So over the last couple days i have noticed our 3inch vlamingi tang's pectoral fins start to become cloudy - normally they are clear, but they started getting white patches, not dots. We started feeding sea weed dipped in garlic and also flakes, mysis and lettuce. The fish ate everything. This morning we noticed that one of the pectoral fins had a slice in it. We just did a 10% water change. Fish eats great, swims around alot... How serious is this going to be? What can we do to help with this problem?

    Parameters:
    ammonia: 0
    nitrite: 0
    pH: 7.8 - 8.0
    nitrate: 10 ppm

Fin rot comes and goes with a few of my fish. My maroon clown comes down with it every couple of months. I just use Melafix (dip some flake food in it) and feed her that way for three or four days straight. Works on this end. The garlic idea is sound and should also be used. Your seaweed dipped in garlic juice is perfect. Should resolve itself given a little help and time.
