i will soon be getting an eighty gallon tank, the dimensions are 60 long, 13 deep and 23 tall. so there should be enough space to fit a tang comfortably, even two i have heard. the only problem I have ran into so far has been choice of tang. would it be possible to keep a sailfin tang? i know i would have to upgrade to a bigger tank in the future i just havent talked to many people who have kept them first hand. otherwise i would like to keep a yellow tang and a blue hippo tang.
which sounds like a better option? thanks.

I got a hippo you can have..IF YOU CAN CATCH IT...I should have gotten rid of her when I upgraded...But its so hard to do (so cute) my wife says...She needs a long tank I know,...So I'm try'n to fashion a trap...shes turned into a real bad azz in the 90 gallon??
    But I've heard ...the longer the better.....for a tang tank : )

do you think i should have any problem keeping them together? i have read that they are compatable but i dont want to crowd them or cause a ruckus in the tank. haha. i have done my research on all of these fish but i havent found too many reliable sources on keeping them together.

go for the yellow and blue hippo. i think it will add alot more color to your tank.

IMO sailfins are great fish, but would definitely go with the yellow/hippo combo due to how large(and how fast) the sailfins grow.

Good luck with the new tank!

    I have a 6" sailfin in my 4 foot 90g, also I have a 3" kole tang.

A sailfin in that 80g will be fine, until it outgrows it, but that might be a while.

Remember a hepatus tang (hippo) gets to be 10+ inches, so they are a fish that is far from small.

I like sailfins a lot, they are very good at eating bubble algae, even the large balls of it. i don't know of any other reef fish that eats the stuff. Yes, sailfins do get about 12-14 inches, but that will be a while.

Your 80g would be good for 2 tangs easily for a longer time than say a 4 footer, since it is longer. Yeah, that tank is not ass deep front to back, but I still think the extra foot length will help.
