I'd just go to Petco and get their $1 dollar a gallon sale. Unless you remove the bottom and get new glass and resilicone it, might be cheaper.

Your trying to drill it for an overflow right? Why not do a beananimal drain with a coast to coast overflow. Then you only have to drill the back. I imagine its pretty hard to change out the bottom of the tank, and not be concirned with it holding. I wouldnt take a chance with changing glass out. Just a thought.

i:ve looked atthe overflow kits but thier is a sticker on the bottom of the tank and it says DO NOT DRILL TEMPERED GLASS and i dont know if that goes for the bottom or every peace of glass the tank is made of.

The sticker should specify whether it is just the bottom, or the whole tank. I have one tank that says "Bottom glass is tempered, do not drill" and another that says "All glass is tempered, do not attempt to drill".

so if it says the bottom then it is just the bottom not the sides.

Yes. Although, to be safe see this link to confirm the sides are not:

How to tell if glass is tempered.
