I am thinking about ordering a pair of Aquacultured True Percs and just had a few questions. Do they get the same back markings as the wild caught specimens? Are they as hardy as the tank bred ocellaris? Which are more likely to host non-anemone corals? I have a large frogspawn and a large long tentacle toadstool I would like to see them host.

Any answers to these questions would be great. Also it would be great if you could post some pics of your tank bred percs if you have any.

Yes, they come about 2 years after birth. They are hardy although not as hardy as occys. Hosting of coral is rare but it happens, wALL HAMMERS HAVE WORKED BEST FOR ME THOUGH.

Agreed. Although I think it is not as rare as we all think. It really depends on the clown and stressers in the tank. I had a small Maroon clown host a rock once. The rock did not provide the same protection as it's natural symbiote. That same clown later hosted a Turbinaria. There it stayed until it passed on (the clown, not the coral).

Now, there are swimming characteristics that may be important to you. One of them likes swimming near the top of the tank. The other likes the middle. I have a mated pair of Falsies that like the middle, but I have been out of the loop long enough to have forgotton which does which (in a higher percentage). Something to keep in mind.

Speaking of tank raised...could I add a pair to my 75 that has a purple and a hippo in it?

I really have my heart set on the tank bred Percs...but all my local fish stores say they are not available from any of their suppliers. :( Does anyone know where I can find a pair?

Try online. I have ordered a fish online and he is doing just fine. Sometimes it can be cheaper than getting a fish from a LFS but you have to be careful of where you get it. liveaquaria.com is a great site to get live stock from. Browse it and see what you think.

liveaquaria does not have any listed and reefhotspot's site is still down. Can someone recommend other online fish vendors that you have had good experiences with that may have them?
