Well, i am reading 0.1 volts. The pump numbers found on the boxes are not on the recall list. Is 0.1 V enough to nuke my tank or should i be looking elsewhere. I am taking water to the LFS to see if he can detect anything in my water that my test kit can't. I am running carbon, phosban and cuprisorb already. Any thoughts. Could there have been something lurking in my tank that was stirred up by the powerheads? Were the powerheads just maybe too much to add?

And how about this for a twist...Aquarium Grounding Probes

Just a thought. How deep is your sand bed and did the powerhead really agitate it when it was turned on?

When I added the korellia nano to my 29, my tank tank griped. I am not heavily stocked so it survived. 2 small damsels in a 29, some inverts live there too.

Voltage won't kill, it is the amps that will. When I measure the DC volts tumb to thumb in my body, depending on where I stand I measure anywhere from .8 to 1.2 volts. Fluke 77 not cheap stuff.

My AC volts changes under flourecents, but around 1 volt.

My water reads .5 volts dc and 6-14 volts AC in different tanks. No troubles.

Again Volts do not kill, it is the amps.

Do test with a ground probe, but I think your problem may be with the new circulation change.

Hope things work out well, and sorry for the losses. I would cry if I lost my damsels.

I would say the sand wasn't that aggitated, but there was some detritus kicked out from under the rocks and such. If that detritus were fish poo could that have created an ammonia spike or would it have been converted to nitrate already?

40% water change complete. used a 3/4" tube to suck out any detritus present. Clown fish is in sump... chillin at the bottom.. again.. got all algae off the glass.. everything seems to be ok as of right now. Check the powerheads again.. this time they read 0.2V. Seems like nothing to me.. anyways.. that's the update. Any thoughts?

I never meant for it to sound like that :( but i also don't want new-comers to think that a tank crash is the norm because it is not.

Make sure when you are checking for stray voltage that the meter is on AC and that your ground in the outlet is actually grounded. I have been in many houses that was wired by "Johnny on the spot" and they never hooked up the ground like they should. Put one probe in the water and one in the ground socket or the screw in the middle of the mounting plate.
