So i lost my coral beauty, flame angel, and kole tang to vibrio this weekend.

I am trying to decide how to move forward.

First i want to get rid of my diy carbon reactor.
What reactor would everyone recommend? i was thinking BRS carbon reactor with the pump. they sell it as a kit.

Also my plans for new fish. Once i figure out when the tank will be safe to add new fish. Probably going to wait at least a month. And if my remaining fish seem fine then i will add more.

Currently i have 75gal DT 40B Frag Tank 25gal sump 140gal total system
    2 clowns
    1 lyretail anthias
    spotted mandarin
    green(psychadelic) mandarin
    red scooter blenny
    snails
    corals

So i want to put a zebra lion in the 40B that was my original plan, tank is currently fish-less with just live rock.

Then in the 75 i want to add 2 more female lyretail anthias and 1 male.

My gf said these are the fish she would want
    picasso trigger
    Or any of these butterflys
    latticed, saddleback, vagabond, golden semilaravatus
    one spot foxface
    cubicus boxfish

no idea about any of these that she likes.

    what would everyone recommend?
i was thinking maybe a few wrasse!

also plan to build canopys for the 75 and 40b.

Sorry for your losses, a trigger would not be the right fit. I like butterflyfish though, but only one, as they can grow to a decent size. Defenitely more anthias, they are a great schooling fish

yea i want a school for sure! and i figured the trigger was not reef safe, what would be a good butterfly? I don't think any of the butterflys will really do good in my tank. She will just have to settle with the 1spot fox face. lol

The only Butterflyfish that I remember that is completely reef safe is a Schooling Bannerfish, but they need 120+ gallon aquariums. Orange Butterflyfish might nip at Softies and Leathers, but I don't think they will nip at anything else.

I've never heard of any of the butterfly's listed... But IMO a raccoon butterfly would fit. :) they seem hardy compared to other butterfly's too.

And don't get the box fish. They get huge and release toxins when stressed or dead.

Pyramid butterflies are reef safe. Bellus, Lamarck, Swallowtail angels to name a few are also reef safe. I have one of each in my tank.

As far as reactors, I have both a Phosban 150 (for my 46 bow) and a BRS single (for my 55 gal). I just received and setup my BRS over the weekend, and I must say I am pretty impressed! Not that the Phosban is not any good, but between the two I definitely like the BRS more. If you do go with a BRS, do not get the 1200GPM pump they recommend. Get a Cobalt MJ600 instead.
