tank temp

My 12 gallon nano soon to be reef tank is at 81.3F

How can I lower the temperature?
From waht I know it should be like 79?

 

I added a sump to my nano 12 to keep it cooler.... My 5.5 gal runs at 80.1... The problem is that its not even summer yet.. MY 12 hit 84-85 in the summer until the sump was added.... Try proping the feeder lid open a couple inches with something, or I took the lid off and drilled holes all over it to help with cooling... I'll try to find you a pic....

what is a sump? i know its a noob question

I made mine out of a rubbermaid container.... I have 2 cats, Just prop the feeder door open a little... A sump just holds extra water.. So my 12 gallon nano had a 10 gallon sump so total water volume was 22 gallons...

what does a sump do?
and do you know anywhere online i can find directions on how to make one?

I dont even know where I would put it my tank is on a wood stand with no drawers

I just opened the feeder lid and i am in the room where my tank is so i will just keep an eye on my cats because one of them likes to go on top of the tank
