Hello, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a way that I keep my tank at 78. I have a 60 gal with 2 heaters in a 30 gal sump. I hate the heaters!! The dials on them are so imprecise and it seems that no matter how hard I try my tank just fluctuates at least 4-6 degrees during the course of a day. It is true however that I am running Halides but my heat usually dips down. It never goes over 81 but fluctuates between 74-(79-80). Any suggestions? Could it be my heaters are just crappy?

what total wattage do you have between the 2 heaters, they may be to small to cope with the 90 gallons of water you have in your system - depending on ambient temp of you locale

you would need larger heaters /wattage per gallon ratio in a temperate climate than you would in the tropics

Does your temp fluctuate in the room the tank is in much? Do you use any fans on your tank? I would also think underpowered heaters. Do you have enough flow in the tank?

    umm

I just ordered a few more power heads to increase my current. I currently have about 1200 gph in my tank mag 9.5 and one little powerhead and a pump running in the skimmer. I am replacing my current powerhead with 2 new one.

The temp in my room stays pretty level as it is in the basement. I also have 3 fans on the tank built into the lighting system.
