this is the heater i have right now in my 29gal. It holds the temp at 78 plus or minus 2, usually stays around 80. Is this a good temperature? I have heard that 75 - 78 is better for fighting algae? Just wondering if i should get a different heater? Seems to be working really well and very steady so.......... I will get another heater if it is recommended, they are cheap!

That's not much swing at all, so I would leave it. What kind of lighting did you end up getting for that tank?
