Holy Smokes!!!!!! that sump work impresses me...
I'm totally rethinking the cheato/DSB thing in my sump....space issues are a big concern...
but that ATS also seems to pose challenges...without a good ATO, I can see some big evap losses but I can also see a lot of cooling .... I'm also worried about splashing, but w/o seeing one I beg your pardon for more detail

Got links on that ATS build or can you expound here? (I've read the spray bar is a slot as opposed to holes, is that true?)

I'm really pleased our two tanks are more or less the same age....in fact I'm a lil giddy...I'm not feeling so "lonely", and building in parallel allows me to duplicate yet do something different for learning/comparisons...not a "Competiton" but a learning opportunity....thats why part of me wants to copy, but part of me wants to remain on course...decisions decisions

...while I'm at it, let me express kudos (Scott's 90 wave) for that wood working (I should post that on his thread but I'm here)...I usually build my stands also but my router failed

I don't have an ATO going yet I loose about 1 gallon a day or so which isn't to bad, I don't think. The ATO is one of my next projects I plan to get one from AutoTopoff.com they seem to have the best prices. I will be getting the double switch for safety with snail guards.

The bar that the ATS slides into is slotted I used a dremel like most do. But another way to get a perfect slot is to use a table saw, if you have one that way it is perfectly straight on the first shot. Might be a little sketchy though.

The ATS choice was not an easy one I have had about 4 aquariums before this one, and I too was programmed to use a skimmer, GFO, Carbon, and what ever else expensive stuff is out there.

Thanks! That was the part that took the longest and the most expensive I probably spent around $350 bucks on the lumber and all the finish material. Not to mention the blood, sweat and anger that went into it. :D

Another thing I want to do to that sump is rework it some. I want to move the mangroves, maybe in front of the screen spread out to not block the light. I also want to make the right part of the ATS section into an frag area! There is a good amount of room there I just have to find a light for the frags. I also have to find a way to block the 2700k light from the ATS bulbs.
