Seems I edited my post after your last post :) Yes, the anemone can still be harmful to corals regardless of its size and no, clowns do not need an anemone to nest. In fact, I've got a pair of oscellaris that are currently nesting in a gigas clam. I have also had clowns nest in leather corals, frogspawns, mushrooms, powerheads. They're not picky when it comes to picking a host as you can see from my experiences :)

PS. Another thing to consider is that your angel fish just might try to eat an anemone so keep that in mind. I would never add an angel fish to a reef tank regardless of whether or not they're considered "reef safe." I just don't like to gamble because when I do, I always seem to lose :)

Yer, well unfortunately I based my decision to get a lemonpeel on the beautiful yellow colour and was set in stone by my dealer telling me that they are actually "reef safe" with corals and such. How wrong he was. I might give the anemone a miss for now as I dont want it to go on a rampage around my tank.

    Thanks for the help!!

Well, at least you've learned that your dealer isn't necessarily the best source of information, especially when they're more concerned with making a sale than anything else. It's a shame but it certainly compels most hobbiests to do their homework before making a purchase.

    True very true...

Let me be an example for other people! Do not take what dealers say to be the truth.. do your research before making a decision!!

    Cheers Amcarrig!

My Yellow Tang and clown fish hang out all day. I've never seen them fight at all, they stay close.

The other thing to keep in mind is that just because you have an anemone in your tank with a Percula doesn't mean they will develop a symbiotic relationship!!! Clown fish are aggressive(especially Maroons and Tomato's, however i have a false Percula and he won't let me put my hand in the tank without bitting me...Being that they are related to Damsels...enough said!

Yes, well I think I will pass up the anemone for a while and just have the clownfish free roaming. I have other corals that they might take a liking to.

Thanks for all your help everyone!!!

Give that clownfish a mate and something to nest in and that relationship won't last :)
