The Japanese Ice Aquarium, Kori no Suizokukan, can be found in Kesennuma, Japan and is not your typical aquarium at an ambient temperature of 5 degrees fahrenheit. The ice aquarium features over 80 different species of marine life that have been flash frozen as they are unloaded from the port. Unusual, controversial and dare I say 'cool?'

It's kinda cool. But it's kinda dumb. Why would you want to go see a whole bunch of dead fish. You can go to the market for that. I would rather see them live

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I think is it amazing, both in as marine biology exhibit and an artistic one. Some one took put a lot of care into designing it and the way the fish are placed within each piece of ice.

    Thanks for sharing Matt.

    ^^^LOL!!

That's not an aquarium...that's an art exhibit. Aquarium has an underlying, predisposed idea of getting to see LIVE animals.

    LMAO

It is interesting though. Sort of like having taxidermied fish, in a museum. Although it's a more accurate representation (as it isn't a representation, it's the actual fish...).

I actually go the fish markets in Ca. so I can see all the cool stuff they haul in. It's absolutely amazing some of the stuff they find. You get to see some cool inverts, interesting crabs, huge snails. If you want a biotope system go to the fish markets on the water in the early am. You can collects some awesome stuff. Ok, now I want fish and chips for lunch darn it.!!!!!!!!!!!
