I haven't read anything about them eating softies, where did you hear that? I was very bummed at the LFS after they informed me my second blue throat trigger had died from what looked like cyanide poisoning . . . and then I saw this little guy. I hadn't planned on hopping on the urchin bandwagon, but with a growing store credit and this funky guy staring me down it was ment to be. I also picked up a really cool red linkia star, but I wont brag about that one until after it makes it past the first few weeks.

has he started wearing things as camo? In the wild you will just see this "walking" mound of oyster shells and it is a dead give away that it is a pincushion. In the summer when the wind blows the sea grape leaves into the shallows you can see parades of them using big bright orange leaves walking around on a biege seafloor trying to blend in. :) Very funny...

He grabbed a ninja star snail and a frag disc with some zoas when first introduced, but I stepped in. all he has now is a couple empty (I think) hermit shells.

:) A constant struggle with those guys. They will give you plenty of opportunities to re-aquascape. You can limit the effect of this tendency by dropping a lot of shells on top of him, they are pretty quick to attach them. Cool critters though if you can keep up with them.
