so heres a crazy story for all hippo tang lovers out there. i got some live rock from a store about 2 hours away from where i live yesterday (it was dirt cheap). i get him and put the rock in the tank. next thing i know i see a TINY little hippo tang pop out of the rock and start swimming around. after a long while i caught the little bigger and put him in qt. his color immediately perked up and he seems to be doing great. its insane becasue i just lost my powder blue this morning after a 12 hour battle with some sort of bacterial infection that ravaged him in a matter of hours. but for real though 2 hours in a rock w a TINY bit of water in the container... WHAT A TROOPER!!!;D

WOW. And you got a free Hippo Tang. I've never heard of a tang hitchhiking in on LR. Congrats.

So cool. It's amazing how things can liove through some really rough conditions but other things can die for no apparent reason.

I had a Hippo tang get sucked against the grill on the intake of an 802 powerhead. When I found him and pulled him out he had grill marks on his side and he was a little bent. He got a few ick spots on him for a few days but healed nicely. It's still alive and growing about a year later. Great fish.
