The anemones you are talking about are probably maxi-mini anemones, which only get to about 2" in diameter. They are inexpensive and pretty colorful. There is a larger version, also commonly dubbed as a "maxi mini" anemone, that can get to 6" (sometimes a bit larger) in diameter and have the possibility of consuming smaller fish, like BTAs ans LTAs are sometimes known to do.

Either way, they are going to be too small to host a clown.

    Can we get a picture?

If it looks to be in good condition, go ahead and snag it. How long has your tank been up?

If you clown hasnt hosted before it might not but then anain it might just becuse I said that LOL I would say you have a 50/50 tha it will bother it.

the tank is fairly new IMO I have read and understand to the best of my knowlage that you need a more mature system.

for ten bucks I would risk it and if ti starts to go south then its onlt ten bucks.

Again, could someone please explain the difference between a 5 month established system and a 10 month established system? The only thing that would change would be pod populations and coralline (both of those of no interest to a nem I believe?). No idea why these guidlines come up online, they sure make no sense to me. I think you would be fine adding a nem, your tank sounds ready. Only thing I would be afraid of is the clown harrasing it and it going into hiding.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
A BTA that small might not fair well against an older enthusiastic tomato clownfish.

+1 a tomato clown can be very aggressive. It will probably kill it, if it does choose to reside. I would say the nem should be at least 4-5x the size of the clown, with an aggressive clown like that.

Also, 1 inch, are you sure he's not selling you a manjo :p j/k (or at least I hope I'm joking....).
