I need some insight on where to place my powerheads.

A little background, I have a 55g which drains into my sump at about 450gph. The 2 returns are in the upper back corners, currently pointing toward the center of the front glass. Most of my rock is toward the back going up toward the back glass, mostly open water in the top front of the tank.

I am getting my first wp25 on thursday and will be getting another one as soon as I get the money for the second one.

So I need suggestions as to where I should put the first PH and then where I should put the second one. If one spot is better for when I only have the one and then a different spot is better once I get the second, that information would be appreciated as well.

I currently have a marineland POS PH I can use in the interim but it has to be running all the time because it makes atrocious sound when it comes on.

If it is not necessary to have the old PH until i get the second wp25 that is preferred.

    TIA

You can provide enough flow with just one WP25....I use 2 in my 90gal....as far as placement....just put one on each side pointing towards each other. In the mean time while you have only one, just set it up in Else mode and put it on one side and it will do it's job. I suggest dialing back the pumps when you install the 2nd one. They are pretty strong. Just make sure you clean them about once a month as the slime growth on them slows the flow down considerably. That's how I judge when to clean mine.

I have had good success running one of my WP40s in W1 mode, slowest pulse. Sand stays put, corals sway nicely. Fish don't seem to mind it either. If only one in the tank, I would try W1, or ELSE as mentioned.
