As you can see, the issue is receding where the branches are splitting. Is this due to poor health conditions of skeletal growth? I am leaning towards the latter, but a second (or 10th) opinion would be appreciated.

As always please post parameters. I post this because problems with LPS generally are caused by swings in parameters namely ALK and or lighting.

Feed it if you are not already doing so.

Lastly it's so hard to judge secondary to LPS ability to drive us insane by inflating and deflating differently everyday.

    At last check:

    1.026
    Mag- 1520
    Calc- 400
    Alk- 2.5
    Nitrate- undetectable

My concern is that hole at the base of the "V" where the two branches split. To me, it appears as if the skeleton is growing more so than the tissue receding.

Thank you for posting the parameters.:)

That would not be a big concern for me. As the skeleton/support structure grows the tissue does not cover the old growth but rather the new growth.

As long as you keep your parameters stable and consider target feeding it I would not be concerned unless this is a new coral and then it might require different placement.

This coral has been in the tank for about 9 months. It split from 2 heads to 4, including an entirely new branch. Where the new and old branch meet, I am seeing a hole where the tissue connecting the two is "tearing" apart. Underneath is white skeleton. The main base-branch is more brown in color.

That is normal for when the heads split.

Well it looks like it was indeed receding. It got worse than what is shown in the picture, but it now seems to have stopped. I haven't seen it extend its polyps in a long, long time. They used to be out all the time. It still has it's bright neon green color.

I rarely see the tentacles on mine until at night.

If the recession continues, Have you tried you can use airline tubing to siphon off the dying/necrotic tissue and then you may want to give it a dip in an Iodine solution like TM Pro Coral Cure to help prevent the spread

They don't even come out then. Think my 1600 ppm mag upset it.
