Ok i have a 90gal. that is causing me problems. I also have a 29 gal. tank that i wanted to move my coral and other things into from my 90. Would a 400 watt MH light be to much over that small of a tank. Thats 13 watts per gal. which seems to be a lot. I have a nova T5 ho light on the 29 now that i could get new bulbs for but would one daylight and one actinic be enough light? They are 39 watt each. At the moment i have a tongue coral, open brain and some leathers. Let me know what you all think.

just raise it a bit then watch your corals so you can get it at that sweet spot, you'll be fine

Would the 2 T5 bulbs be enough?? i would rather just use that alone then the MH.

you could have them in there for quite a bit just under the t-5's untill you get the 90 back up and under control

i doubt the T5 fixture would be enough if you plan on keeping anything other than the regular softies..... because the total watts per gallon is only around 2.6 which i dont think is enough...

i would just use the MH like "dimweb" said and raise it up to the right level, proably be good to get a canopy as well or build one, if you dont have one to keep the excess light from lighting up your room.

Well see im not sure im gonna get the 90 back goin. I lost 15 hours over time at work so that really cut back on the $$$. So water changes are gettin pricey with so much vol. Maybe it will in a few yrs but not anytime soon lol.

I would use the MH then and make a canopy with a nice vent so you can get the heat out.
You can make it work it's cheaper than buying new lights :)

Yea thats what i thought about doing is building a canopy. Not sure what i will do i might just leave everything how it is. My biggest problem in the 90 isbryopsis/hair algea
