I just realized, I have not done todays dumb question in quite some time.
    Any, here goes.

So I am transferring old rock and new rock into a new tank soon. When I am doing the aquascaping, is it OK for the Live rock to be exposed to the air for a while, 30 minutes ? Or does aquascaping need be done under water ?

I have a piece or two that has mushrooms attached and obviously those will be kept in water, but what about the purple live rock ?

    \Cheers

Why don't you do a water change at the same time as your re-aquascape? This way your L/R can be placed in the water while you work. To answer your question. It should be kept damp. And pieces with coral should be kept submerged.
EDIT: Didn't realize you were transferring from tank to tank.

Perfectly fine. That's the way it is transported to the LFS. Just kept moist.

    OK, damp it is.
I am looking to lay some out on the counter to see all the pieces and get ideas.
The 110 is deep and kinda tough to get in , down, look and back again.

I will keep it quick, but wasnt sure of the dye off.

If you wrap it in newspaper, it will be kept moist, and the ink nowadays is colorfast, so you won't have to worry about dye-off. :)
