Hi to all! New to the forum but not to fish tanks, unfortunately I have just now! been able to afford to drop some money on the filtration system i have needed since I purchased my 80 gallon fish tank, the two over hanging filtration system were just not enough, terrible flow rate, stagnite water etc. Anyway i bought a wet dry system and dropped 340 on it. It is working great since i set it up but my water level is too high! water is leaking from the top of my tank where the trim is. I just noticed this after installing the Wet dry but i believe if I drop the level of the water it will not be an issue. only problem is i dont know how to do this, called the store i got it from and they told me a longer hose from the pump to the outlet/return inside the tank willl do the trick. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciatied. Thankyou!
Btw I have a *quiet one 3000* pump that is 780gph

what kind of overflow do you have on the tank? and what is it rated for?

The box that hangs inside the tank suppose to be suitable for up to a 100gallon

Your pump is pumping water into the tank faster than your overflow can drain it. That's the problem. You need to scale back the flow of your pump.

I would run a t off the return with a ball valve that way you can adjust how much water goes back into the DT.

extending the hose will do the trick, but it would be better to use a ball valve to throttle the flow down

adding a longer line will make the pump work harder. adding a tee won't. the tee goes back to your sump.

these pumps are designed to work with head pressure.
