Is there such thing as too much LR/BR? I just bought 30 pounds of BR today and already had about 5 pounds of LR. This BR came in really big pieces and makes my tank look phenomenal. Yes, a lot of the sand is covered up but with these massive pieces, there was no way of preventing that. as long as it looks good, is it ok? there are countless amounts of hiding spots/caves for the fish to swim in

By the way, with that LR knocked out of the way, here are some/my last future investments except for fish:

If the pieces are to big for your liking you could always bust them up. There is no such thing as to much IMO.

My plans WERE for this tank, just to have fish only. After setting up this LR however, there are so much opportunity for coral and a lot of "shelves" for it as well. Maybe invest in a good light and keep some anemones? that was my dream since i got a tank but after a year or so, i got the right lighting for corals so i got corals and forgot all about the beauty of anemones. Could that be a possibility? How much lighting? Is my tank big enough? Does it need to age a certain amount? (yes, this means no corals and just anemone's and fish) My tank is a 20 gallon long. these are the dimensions of my tank: 30 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 12 3/4

As you see in the picture i have attached, im investing in a 65 watt coralife light fixture. Would that be enough considering how "shallow" or "not deep" my fish tank is?

Yes, my dream was to have a anemone that hosts a clownfish.

i would say 65 watt PC lighting is no good for anemones. you should wait at least a year before adding an anemone to your tank. they need very stable params and when they die, they take your whole tank out with them. so, that being said, i would not recommend a tank based solely on anemones.

i would buy a better light first off. a 4 bulb t5 would be best, then you could put whatever you want in there. you dont need the light for the cycle, so start your cycle, and save money for 6 weeks, then get a decent light. you could keep all softies and LPS, and some SPS at the top.

considering i have 4 weeks left of cycling, thats $160. Im making $40 a week. I could try to get some more income but thats all i see right now. But that $40 a week is guaranteed. How much is the light your suggesting? and from a name-brand store like petco? Maybe ill buy it off ebay? there's usually AMAZING deals there. Wanna send me a link from ebay of what your talking about? or tell me what its called? Whats a step down from what your talking about?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

you cant buy a decent light from petco. do you have a hood for the tank, if so you can retrofit something for cheap. otherwise, look for a nova extreme. they are pretty good without being too pricey.

ok i was going to start a new thread but please stick with me and help me. Im going to invest in a coralife 65 w. They sell them at petco for 100. If i decide i want to house coral, ill buy another one and they will both be standing on pegs. that would be a total of 130 watts. Is that any good?

If this fails and i find a good deal on ebay, ill do that. i recently saw a
30" inch 130 watt coralife power compact for just 40 bucks. Only was used for 3 weeks. Has moon lights on it. But something like that you know? which one do you suggest? and how many watts are you suggesting?
