    what do you mean by that? what am i making? and can i go to home depot or lowes and have them custom make a 30" t5 housing? would that be any cheaper? i know i need the bulbs and ill buy that from petco or something.

    if you have a hood, you can buy a retrofit kit that comes with reflectors, ballasts, housing, and bulbs. This would be the BEST way to go. problem is you would probably have to go with 24" bulbs as i dont remember seeing many 30". IF you are going to buy the corallife, which is old technology, DONT buy it from petco. you can get the same thing for 1/3rd of the price if you just look around online. You can keep corals under 130 watts PC, i am doing it now, but if i had to do it over again, i wouldnt have spent $200 at Petco on something i could get much cheaper online.. so, moral of the story, go better if you can, if you cant, then look around for the best price on the fixture you want.

    That would work much better than the single PC. I have one similar without the moonlights. I want to upgrade, but i cant complain about the light, i have had no problems. I would recommend using other brands of bulbs, i have had problems with the coralife bulbs. this is not anything you have to do right away though
