Ok I upgraded my lights to an HQI lighting for my 24g nano. I have been noticing alot more water evaporation. LIKE ALOT... I do weekly water changes but have noticed that the water level get so low in a 2 days that I need to add to top off. Should I just add RODI water? Or should I top off with salt water? If I use just RODI water won't i lower my salintiy to much?

use ro/di--salt does not evaporate with the water...dont let it get too low as this will raise the salinity

in my 55, i currently add 1 gal a day of ro water to keep up with evaporation. Try to keep your salinity as consistent as you can. Personally, i keep mine at 1.025. New tank will have an auto top-off and will save me a lot of maintence!!

Yep, RO/DI is to be added. I manually add about 1.5 gallons a day with my tank. I don't trust ATO's personally, so would always do manual top-offs or a drip system.

Eventually you will get tired of adding water every time you go somewhere for longer than a few hours, i know i did. A quality ATo is a good investment. i have a 2 float unit from autotopoff.com and have been very pleased with it. very reliable and not terribly expensive. i think i payed 60$ish to my door with a pump.
