You-dose-iodine. How do you dose it, what do you dose, and what are you levels TESTING at. I think you are poisoning your water with iodine personally. I know you can find alot of info on how its beneficial in reef aquariums especial with bringing out vibrant color. But iodine even in moderate levels is poisonous to just about everything on the planet.

I had the same problem. I dosed without testing and nothing would grow in my tank. Zoas and ricordia melted fast. It was only until a several months after I stopped dosing things started to emerge and grow.

Good rule of thumb is dont add anything you can't test for. Of course I could be WAY off on this.

you could be right about iodine. LFS told me to use bc the xenia would need it. I dose the aquavitro brand as recommended on the instructions, once a week two pipette full doses. I dont see any issues with the zoas and other corals, in fact zoas are multiplying. if it was this would I not see a problem here?

it is like they are melting, when I got home tonight I siphoned off what I could that was slimey and stringy. the yumas look like they are still attached but have melted all the way to the mouth. I have one left that still looks ok. Are they doomed and will they hurt other things in my tank by dieing?

Everything has their own tolerance levels. I would cut that out of your routine for a couple weeks and see if you can borrow a test for someone. The Vibrance you are using is Potassium Iodide which is alot less toxic so thats a good sign. Rics can be tricky. One thing I read it the they prefer to be vertical vs horizontal so try placing the rock lower at a steep incline. I don't know how true that is but it can't hurt right?

I think your problem is too much light.Try lowering them in the tank or even sticking them under an overhang in your tank to shade them. Also for some reason Ricordia and Yuma's seem to like being placed on a vertical surface so turning the rock on its side may help as well.

ok I will try to not dose the vibrance for a few weeks and I can turn the rock and lower it in the tank and I will let you know what happens. Thanks for the advice! much apprecated, I probably could also get a pic as well.
