    noticed this a few days ago at the back of my tank, thought it was cyano but when i went to scrape it off, it is quite rubber like and tough, i had to force the grey area to come away, what is it, i would have to cut it to remove it.

    It looks like sponge to me - the light gray in the middle of the pic. The thing next and leaning on the glass almost looks like part of mushroom. I'll let others chime in....
