Yesterday I noticed that 2 of my trochus snails were in the same spot for a couple of days. This morning I decided to give them a poke and found the shells empty. Upon closer observation I found one of the snails moving along grazing without its shell. The shells were both in the same spot side by side with one being fairly wedged in a spot. Why did this happen?

Its not a salinity issue I have an ATO and my sg is always 1.025. The shell was wedged in a spot maybe it twisted itself. I haven't put my hands anywhere near my tank except when placing new additions. I'll do a bit more research and post what I find. thanks
