What site is best for a RO/DI units? any one specific you can point out? how will i know if a tank is tempered? and out of curiosity what happens with tempered tanks while drilling? i just think having to buy all the things needed for a sump can get costly. you need a tank, you need to buy glass to chamber the sump and not to mention a pump

Some say if you use a pair of polarized glasses and place a laptop with a white screen on the other side of the glass you can tell but i don't know how... BUT if you drill Tempered glass and don't know what your doing it will shatter in to 100000000000 pieces. Eshopps makes sumps that you don't have to build and have most the baffles they make one that can be adjusted to fit your needs.

A sump is a good idea but you don't have to have one.

I've heard that PureWaterClub.com is a good place to get RO/DI units cheap there's a member on here that bought one but I don't know where he went or how it's going?

20g sump should be fine. You can usually get them new for $20 or so. You can find used "reef-ready" tanks that are already drilled. Or can drill one. A 75 is thick enough glass it isn't too bad. You can get overflow kits from here:
700 gph Overflow complete kit - Glass-Holes.com dope aquarium stuff

It isn't needed, but a sump is nice to have and tough to drill once set up.

For RO/DI, Spectra Pure, Captive Purity or Bulk Reef Supply are all good. I agree, that should definitely be on top of the list as far as importance. If it comes to a sump or RO/DI, definitely go RO/DI. Sump vs skimmer, I definitely would go skimmer. If you can do all, even better :)

you can drink the RO water but I wouldn't drink the DI. You can drink DI but I wouldn't recommend it. Near a sink and faucet is the best place for a RODI because it does waste some water. You should have a water tank of some kind to hold the DI water even if it's a small bucket with a float switch definitely a shut off switch so that you don't flood your house.

you CAN NOT drill tempered glass, period. if you are a pro or not, it will shatter, wholes are drilled in temered glass before they temper it.

that's what I said, but I implied that if you knew what you were doing, meaning that ya don't do it less your the one tempering the glass. I figured the whole shatter in to 10000000000000000 pieces would have done the trick?

oh it did the trick alright.

i will then start budgeting for an RO/DI unit, tank, stand, heater, live/dry rock, live/dry sand, salt, test kit, lights, and if all goes well a sump and skimmer! oh and i guess i need a pump too and something for watermovement

Just saw this add in CR for 500, take a look guys and tell me if its work it or not?

This tank is in excellent condition with no leaks, and is all set up for salt water and awesome reef and coral growth. The tank comes with everything to run it, including a complete bio ball filtration system, a very expensive protein skimmer, and a very expensive light. Everything for this tank was well over 1800 dollars. The light i am giving with it was 600 alone. The light has 2 blue led moon lights, 2 60 watt flaurescent lights, and 1 250 watt halogen light with ballast. This tank is very well equiped, and is very easy to maintain. I will also be throwing in chemicals and test kit, and any other things that i had for it.
