I am about to purchase some powerheads and would like some opinions. I am gathering parts for my 90 and have come to getting powerheads. Would you fellas got with 2 6055 tunze controllable with a aquasurf module or a Vortech mp40w. I am going to be keeping sps with some softies.

I have an Mp40 and really like it. Plus Vortech has very good customer service, I know from experience. IMO, the MP40 is the best power head on the market mainly due to it controlability, synching capabilities and flow pattern. Other will say they prefer the Tunze, I've never used one so I can't say much about them though.

I have and love the MP40s. Have you considered a pair of MP20s? This would get you more flow than a single, and better, more chaotic flow. Yes, a little more expensive, but your SPS would love you for it.

I posed the same question when we were looking at powerheads and both are GREAT choices. From my research, it really comes down to personal choice. They are both comparable in price, customer service and quality.

I love Ecotechs, but between two Tunzes that will be controllable and one MP40, I would go with the Tunzes. IMO it's better to have at least two power heads in your tank. The suggestion of two MP20's would blow them all out of the water though!

I use the MP40 and the new wave action controller I just changed out my old circuit board for the new action mine was one of the first when they where like 550.00 ): Holler at me you never know. On a 90 one MP40 is about all you want or need they move some serious water and its a soft flow . amazes me how they do it.
