two clowns

this might be moved. i just bought two clowns for my 8 gal. (when they get bigger they're going to my 45) so at first they were just taking little nips and stuff, but never staying more than an 1" apart. 1 hour later, one of the clowns looks like its vibrating against the other. isnt that a courtship thing? there only 1.25" long anyways so is that too early for courtship?

If it looks like it is having a seizure that means it is not "attracted" to the other clown. I read a few articles on mating clowns and that was one of the things mentioned. Just like us.... not everyone is attracted to the same people and that vibrating/seizure is a sign of it not liking the other.

 

oh ok what are signs that they like each other? because it turns out he was just swimming against the current. and how can you tell the difference between a male and female clown?

The vibrating of the clown means he is "giving in" to the dominant clown.

thats a good sign, it means they are on their way to pair up.

the dominate or larger will become the female. the smaller will be the male. they are neutral until they mature.

 

what size will they be marute at approximately?
