I have a 55g and am running a sump with overflow box. I like the system, but there is little room for anything other than a small skimmer and return pump. I have decided I would like to drill two 10g tanks and sandwhich them together. My question is where to drill. I would like to have my overflow line and my skimmer in one of the ten's and a small fuge and return pump in the other. My thought was to drill near the bottom and use bulkheads and a peice of PVC pipe to connect the tanks. I would put one ten in the stand and then the other. Then I would glue the PVC pipe together.

    Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

10s are easy to break when you drill, b/c the glass is so thin.
Why not just do one larger sized tank for a sump?

I haven't found anything else that would fit under the standard 55g stand. Which is only about 10in in depth.
