Just got a purple tang and it has been doing fine up until this afternoon when I arrived home. I looked at the tank as I usually do and one of his eyes is swollen and bulging out. What can i get to treat this and what is causing this. I checked my water parems and they are all good. Will this disease spread to the rest of my fish? Do I need to quarantine the little guy? Help please so I can run out and pick up whatever he needs!!!!!

j/k but seriously its a bacterial infection usually and should be treated as such. make sure your tang is getting the right amount of greens in its diet also

It's possible it is not due to infection, but rather from injury (scraping against a rock). If the later is the case, it will likely heal on it's own, provided good husbandry.

Could also be flukes. I always freshwater dip and treat with Prazipro in the QT for new arrivals.

Unilateral popeye is usually an injury. It CAN become infected, like any injury can, but that wouldn't be my first conclusion as to a causative factor.
