I am getting ready to start my 150 gallon tall with a 55 gallon sump. I curently have a 55 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. My curent setup is 1 year in March. I need to put the tank in the same location as my setup now. I am very woried about my corals and fish. Would they be able to make a transfer that large without killing them? I am working on my stand right now and collecting equipment. I am wanting to setup the new tank in April. Any advice or suggestions.
    Thanks

I just finished an upgrade this past January (55 non drilled to a 65 drilled). Make sure you have at least 3 large trashcans for water and lr. I had two large tub for corals and fish (you will need an air pump). Most importantly be certain you have enough water, unlike me who was scrambling at 5 pm on a Sunday trying to find a lfs that was open. I found the most time consuming thing was the aquascaping, that took me about 2 hours alone to complete. Good luck and don't forget pictures!

Thats a totally doable upgrade especially since your starting the planning now.
My only suggestion is get all new sand and just add a cup or 2 from the old tank to seed it. Also your gonna need 100+ lbs of rock, I suggest getting all dry base rock and then stack your existing rock on top of it to seed that. Minimize the exposure to air durring the move and you should have a very short cycle.

Yes, it is a 150 Tall

Most of my corals did very well. They were stressed from lack of light for a couple of days, but otherwise good.

I did lose one or two due to a heater malfunction. Keep a good eye on your temps.
I ended up losing several of my favorite fish when a heater stuck on.
