So the night goes like this...

As I had my hand in the tank, the urchin struck. It was very painful. I quickly removed my hand, and it began to bleed under the nail. I flushed it for 30 min under the hottest water I could tolerate. Then called poison control where they advised I go to the er. They removed as much as they could by basically cutting it out. I got three shots, one in each hip and on left arm. Today it's pretty sore today. I felt good about going to the hospital, was certainly the right call rather than waiting till today. Certainly was a lesson learned. Thanks for the comments.

Haha. Yup it was the first documented case that they were aware of at that hospital.

Sounds like the cure has as much potential for pain as the wound...... we have a salt water fish we catch here called a red perch.. the spine are venomous... we soak in mild solution of bleach to neutralize the effect if stung..... I'm sure you'll be hurting for a few days...sometimes things we deem as harmless seem to have a way of making our life miserable... be well!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yup I was an ER nurse for 4 years, besides all the other nursing I did. It turns into a routine, after awhile nurses can do it in their sleep, MD's well not so much unless they have an experienced nurse, and that is the beauty of it.

Take an Aspirin for long or crampy plane flights. Don't want any DVT's!
