As some of you may have seen I have an urchin that likes to pick up everything from mushrooms to fruit cups. Well now he has picked up my feather duster. I don't want to take off the duster for afraid to squish the worm. It is a smaller one. Is the urchin going to hurt him at all? Should I move him? Is there any reason he shouldn't be able to stay there?:-/

    Thanks!

no you can leave it on. since feather duster filter feed, the movement around the aquarium might be good for him, as long as the urchin doesn't drop it near a pump inlet

Thought about you the other day! We had an urchin at the store carrying around an emerald crab.

It definatly cracks me up!! I have had to save a few snails and crabs before. It is kinda funny to watch the crabs go out as far as they can to try to grab a hold of something to right themselves and just can't!

I do have another question concerning this though! My urchin still has the feather duster and seems to do it no harm...I think. The end of the casing of the feather duster seems to be coming off. I don't know if it is the urchin kind of pulling it off or not. Does anyone know if the casing comes off normally or the urchin is doing that? Now should I take it off? The plume still comes out and there isn't much of the end sticking out but do feather dusters create their own casing or do they get the materials from the environment?

they create their own. if your really worried you can probably pull it off, the shells are pretty hard. i had a cocoworm i took out when the worm died, it was rock hard

It is kinda cute and I don't mind it on the urchin but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't harming the duster by leaving him on there! Thank you!!
