    Hi all,
I use a 32 gallon brute trashcan to mix my saltwater up in.
Well I opened up the can and it smells horrible!
So I was going to dump the saltwater out and clean the can. It bleach ok to use to clean the can with?
why does it smell so bad? is it the saltwater? or the plastic?
    does anyone elses smell bad?

1 part bleach to 10 parts water and give a good rinse and another good rinse.

Plastic vessels have a pretty foul smell when they're brand new. I use hot water and baking soda and allow it to sit in the vessel for about 24 hours and that eliminates that "new plastic smell." I'm not sure if you mean the can smelled horrible before or after mixing the water in it, but I can suggest that if you mix salt water in a vessel and aren't going to use it immediately, cover it.

Regarding bleach, you can use as much as you want as long as you follow the cardinal rule: after bleach, first rinse completely, and always allow the vessel that contained bleach to completely air dry before reusing.
