uv led not soldering?

    I try to soldering my UV led from rapidled. But it not sticking to the star pad. I have no problem with other led pad. Just the UV led is rejecting it. Anyone know how to wiring the UV led?

    I had the same prob it was a complete PITA..just try to keep the tip clean and hot..i actually took a small screwdriver and lightly made scrape marks on the pad,it help a little..it took some time but I got wires to stick..

    This is a soldering issue, not an issue with the stars.

    Your solding iron needs to be cleaned and pre-tinned. Make sure the star is pre-tinned as well as the wires. Also make sure the tip of your iron has not come lose.

    I don't know, but I try tinned the star pad, is like watery slide right off .. even it stick, I touch it, it just come off too. So far only UV led is doing it.

    That is odd. Perhaps it has a waxy coating on it for some odd reason.

    Try a Q-tip and some alcohol. If there is anything on it, that should get it off.

    The only other thing I can think of is that you are not getting the pad hot enough. If the pad is not hot enough, the solder does have a tendency to bead on it and pop off.

    Try lightly scraping or scuffing the pad.

    Arman I just soldered and attached my UV LED's from Rapid tonight as well. The UV's appear to have a coat of wax or something similar on them. Scratch it as noted above or hold your solder gun on the pad until you see the wax receding. Then you shouldnt have any problems.
