    is it worth getting 1 of these im just getting over ich and was told this would help the tank, i didnt lose any fish but my yellow tang has lost a bit of his colour does anyone have any ideas

    I would not bother with the UV sterilizer, but in order to properly answer your question we need more details about your tank. The most important questions are what are the water parameters, and what do you have in the tank (fish, inverts, corals, etc)?

    Some folks really believe in them.. I'm in the don't think it's necessary camp.

    UV sterilizers are only useful if you have bad algae issues, a parasite infestation, bacteria issue (white/milky water). If you don't have any of these issues you don't need it. It will only work if there is something to control.

    I purchased one a few months ago due to a bad bacteria outbreak and haven't turned it off since. I use it as a preventative measure now, but really isn't necessary.

    Honestly, it just depends on your needs and wants. I don't need mine running anymore, but I want it running as a preventative measure.

    i had the waters check and its fine iv got clownfish,green reef chromis,blue and yellow tang-hermit crabs,mushrooms and polys live rock protein skimmer,heater,exteral and internal filter its 200liter and i do a 20% water change every week

    Not beneficial for ich. Remember that ich spends 99% of its life attached to a creature, not floating around in the water.
