Well after a nice acclimation we placed "Tini", (kids named it), in tank. Immediately our Clarkii and YTB Damsel went to it like some thugs waiting in an alley. They more like pushed and prodded at it, than bit at it, but there was a cpl of nips. I immediately through a bit of flake in there to distract the other fish while Tini explored it's new surroundings. After a bit of time everyone settled down and Tini went to work nipping at the LR here and there. It's only about 3/4" but doesn't lack in personality for sure. At 2 a.m. I had to tend to our coughing 2 yr old so I checked on our new fish. Too funny...it was sleeping in a vertival fashion lodged into the LR side wall. This a.m. it seems rt at home and the other fish appear to have accepted their new tankmate. HOPEFULLY!

There you be JT...sry for poor quality. As we speak (although we aren't really speaking), I am trying to get the damsel out of tank...wow! What a chore! He's a bully and is going back to LFS.

i apologize for my ignorance in a matter that i could easily look up, but i figure you've done all the relevant research for me. how not reef safe are these guys? are they coral nippers the same way my coral beauty is supposed to be? or do they just eat shrimp and snails and stuff?

No apologies...I've found that it will depend on the fish. I think you have a 50-50 chance of it not nipping at corals. Ours is only 3/4" long and is too small to mess with any of our snails that are in there and it is only half the size of our cleaner shrimp. Of course it will get larger but if fed properly then I believe it will be fine...but who knows ;) BTW our CBA just nips at the LR and not at corals at all. Good luck and I hope this was useful to you.

Hi Jacwil, although I know you are excited and I hate to bring the warning.......I read up on that puffer and they are not reef safe. They will eat your crabs, snails etc. and some reek havoc on certain coral. It is important to always read up and study any potential new comer and ask your forum friends before you decide on something.
