well I had the first casulity of war today, yellow clown goby. I got him on a wim and noticed when I got it home he was very skinny  I said ok I can deal with this I will just watch him real close and feed accordingly. found out later that he was wild caught which I normally try to stay away from for alot of reasons this being one.

after 3 weeks of heavy feeding(shutting off the powerheads and return pump for around 20 minutes, watching him eat) and I started to get him back to looking better not fat by any means but a bit more heavy. Then I got busy over the weekend thought it would be fine didnt feed but once didnt turn the return pump off just the powerheads.

got to messing around today and didnt see him  thought ok he is just hiding, not that unusual for a .5 inch fish to hide in my huge tank. went to the LFS picked up a pep. shrimp and mate for my clown, got to looking and see the little booger, really really really skinny :-X picked him up and mived him to a spare desk tank I have lying around just for thid type of emergency. got tank water air stone and put him in it. fed some diffreant stuff and he nibbled but never ate alot. I said ok he is eating and I am just stressing him more by putting him in the QT tank. waited saw him nibble some more and said ok he should be fine till the AM, put him back in. acclimated the rest of the crew, didnt see him again not unusual but I started to get concerned.

got ready for bed looked at the tank one more time and saw him..... blue leg food :( after stressing everyone out with 2 new fish, new shrimp, new blue legs matiance, wrasse proofing the tank, EXT.

just upset at myself I guess I have lost fish before but it never gets any better. thought new tank no old problems, Its not even the money at this point that bothers me. a ten dollar fish is still a ten dollar fish plus the gas probably cost closer to 20 or more. Its the fact of quality of life, I really tried and still failed in the long run. I have dogs, cats, all of which I treat with the upmost respect give a great quality of life to, so to starve anything is just wrong to me even if by a fluke :-/

    RIP chuckles :hat:

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The intent to care thoughtfully for the fish is what is important. It does not make it any less frustrating.

I still kick myself for leaving the lid up on my tank and having my male clown jump.

There could of been other circumstances that led to the fish nutritional problems.

Again no less frustrating and disappointing.
