2 things stood out to me while reading your thread. Your looking for answers without posting information. However, I have a couple suggestions as i have kept. 10 gallon for over 3 years. 1 gallon water change every 2 weeks. Use a good reef salt.
You mentioned you clean the inside of your tank with a sponge every morning.....really? First keep your hands out as much as possible and what "sponge" are u using? Your putting your hands, dirty or clean in a tank and introducing harmful substances, stop it. If you have to clean your glass, get something with a handle.

Next, you mentioned you feel your nem sting you....are u really sure its not stray voltage? it happens all the time and 3 times to myself. Once was a hob filter motor and the next time was a heater and the next was a powerhead. This causes coral to go south very fast.

You have also not mentioned what type of lighting you have. If you havent changed your bulbs in a while. Spectrums can shift and cause coral problems as well.

You have a nem and a clown in a 10 gallon tank. Personally i would reconsider this. Your bio load is far to big for such a small tank.

And last. Dont dose anything unless you test for it. I promise that in a 10g tank you cant run through all the trace elements, mag, cal etc in 2 weeks. Also if your not already, run carbon 24/7.

    Good luck to you.

Well I'm 14 lol. If you look at my thread i went away for a few weeks actually just to get things processed through my head and now I'm back to start over, and i did lose a lot of livestock but im just gonna go slower (i'm 100% sure that will help a lot) and the result should be better. I'd recommend selling the anemone and clown and getting like a firefish just to start off since its pretty easy and after a few weeks get some kits and i would recommend maybe one or two corals like zoanthids and see how it goes from there.

Well, Oceansurf, what did you decide to do?

I think you pretty much have a good list of suggestion to try.

A: Reduce your bio-load (take out anemone)
B: Incorporate carbon into your filtration
C: Stop putting chemicals in the tank (including the ones from your hand)
D: Reduce the frequency and volume of your water changes

I've never worked with a nano tank before, in either fresh or salt water. I just feel like maybe you are asking for a clear-cut list that you can check off.

Intuition tells me that you should just leave the tank alone for a while. It's a cheesy line but in the movie Jurassic Park someone says "life will find a way". Living creatures have a way of being resilient and adapting. Not to say that you should put the tank in the closet and leave it there for 6 months, but maybe just relax a little bit and leave it alone?

You say that you have been hassling with this nano tank for over two years. Well, I have a new question. During all this time have you ever just sat back and tried to let the tank work itself out?

I'm just starting in the saltwater game myself and I started with a 40 gallon. I have minimal equipment and a minimal amount of live rock and live stock. I set everything up and pretty much haven't touched it since. My water parameters are looking very good.

I think your over thinking this...

    Good luck,
