    Hey all.
    Hopefully you can help.
I have landed on a ballast / end caps from Energy Savers Unlimited Inc.
The people working there appear to be worthless when it comes to info.
I have been calling them ever 2-3 days for over 3 weeks to get info on a ballast I have and they just won't call me back.

The info on the ballast is
    Model AFJ3040W2
    40w 120v 175 amp
    Ser 9967

Google is not showing me much either.
I know it is made for a 48 in bulb and dual lighting.

So my questions are as follows.
    1) From the info on the ballast I would think that the 40w means each bulb is 40watts. But when searching for 48in vho bulbs they are all 110w. I need to get the bulbs :)

    2) I have the ballast and end caps but they are cut. Each end cap has 2 wires (white/black basic electrical setup) Now the ballast is 9 wires. One in the middle. (guessing it is the ground) and then the other 8 (so 2 wires per end cap - 4 end caps). All are different colors. When I connect the end caps does it matter how I connect all the wires? I'm going to do it with all quick disconnects so this will never be an issue again. (I'm guessing Energy Savers has no info on their own products based on the fact that they won't call back.)

    Thanks again.

Yes it does matter how it's wired and it sounds like the ballast is rated for 2 40wt. total of 80wt, not 2 VHO. I don't think Energy savers makes VHO ballasts, but I could be wrong. Chech their site and see if they have wiring diagrams.

Yeah... doesn't sound like a VHO ballast to me either. The wattage doesn't add up, and that must be 1.75 amp. Might be more trouble than its worth. Either way good luck, I hope the manufacturer will get back to you and maybe have some better answers for you.

    Thanks for the help.
Still nothing from the MFG after 25 calls and the site they have is worthless All they could confirm is that it is an older unit they are no longer making. Totally never purchasing anything that has to do with that company. I'm sure they are VHO's just based on the fact that it was given to me from a friend who was just using VHO and the sockets are VHO. Maybe the ballast is is not VHO and he rigged it some odd way to make it work. Guess worse thing that could happen is just a little voltage going through my arm :)
