Hello, i have finally have halides and vhos for my 245 gal reef tank...there r 4 250w metal halides and 4 45w (me thinks) vho. with the all the lights turned on there is a bit of a greenish yellow tint, i know this is normal cuz of the halides since i prolly have to few vhos. i have room for i think 6 vhos my question is what would be the best to give the tank more of a blue/white look to it...thanks, pics to come!

I run a 175 W MH with 2 VHO true actinics. I like the look it creates. ;)

I agree with Bhreefer. I have 4 110 watt VHOs 46.5 inch on my 55 gallon. 2 Super Actinic and 2 Actinic white bulbs and the color is awesome. Very blue flouress the colores with enough bright white to make it not look perfect. The corals love them. I think I ordered them from Darrin at Captive Reefs. They are our sponser and we 3reefers get like 6 percent discount. Darrin is very helpful with the questions and the bulbs shipped right out quickly and were well packed. Very Professional.

what make of MH are they. 10k are usually a crisp white/blue in color. Either you got a bad batch of bulbs (xm had this problem a while a go or your lamps are beyond there life expectency. I had this problem at one time and my problem was the position of the nipple in the fixture. It should be between 9 and 3 oclock. Does this help.

    MINIATUS Whoo first post ;D

When you mentioned greenish tinge that sounds like Iwasakis which are 65k lamps.(considered to give the best growth for corals). 45 watt lamps I dont think they are VHOs. How long is the tank. If its 6 foot or longer try 6ft URI super actinics.JMHO
