Is there a need to dose vodka/biofuel if my nitrate levels are at or near 0?

IMO, the sole purpose of vodka dosing is to over-complicate things

I did it for a couple months when my nitrates were 80-100, then added mangroves/chaeto and quit. havent seen nitrate above 10-15 since.

It supposedly allows you to over-feed your tank somewhat without fouling your water (since the bacteria that the vodka supports eat the excess nutrients, rather than have them fuel algae growth).

Personally I do dose vodka and like it (although I may switch to solid vodka pellets soon). But is it NECESSARY? NO.
