Vodka Dosing

    I can see that. My reef tank is mainly LPS. I am starting to see very good growth on Blastomussa, Micromussa, Favias and Acans. I wouldn't attribute it all to vodka dosing, though. I've got the two part dosing dialed in and the chemistry looking good, otherwise I would not have considered vodka dosing. If it's used as a band-aid cure all, I could see there being problems.

    As for the heavy skimming and water changes, I skim moderately, and do moderate water changes. My intentions were never to reduce nitrates to zero, although the reef went there pretty quick. I'll back-off on the vodka a little bit.

    The FOWLR tanks went from 80 to 30 nitrates, with 4 triggers, 2 angels, 1 wrasse, 1 tang and a hawk. Very messy bunch. The glass stays clean, virtually no algae, and the substrate is clean. Very low maintenance for the price of adding a little vodka every day.
