volitan growth?

i know that volitans grow fast, but how fast exactly? if i were to get one at 2-3 inches, how long till he will need a bigger tank than 55 gallons? i know youre gonna say just get a dwarf, but my lfs cnat get them to live, and neither can i. so now im wondering if just for a short time i could have the volitan ive wanted. i know they get 16 inches, but how fast really? thanks.

 

the one i had previously went from about 3" to about 8" in roughly eighteen months i had it.

haha thanks, man seeing a volitan lionfish in a picture is what got me into this hobby. i really want one.

 

I have 2 of them and a dwarf. The smaller lovitan is about 3-4 in and has grown about an in in just about 2 months. the larger one is 7-8 in and has grown about 2in in that time. I feed pre cooked shrimp from the store as a filler for them and I can get ghohst shrimp live and local here so they also eat those. I sometimes give them live goldfish but not to often. They seem to grow pretty quickly. I think I can watch it grow sometimes.

 

To also add my dwarf has been in the tank for a while its just a matter of finding the right food for it. I notice it likes the leftovers of carnage.

 

since you have both dwarf and volitan, what should i do mirandolic?

 

This is 5 months of growth, feeding about 3-4 times a week..lol
